Ephesus Tours

Library of Celsus at Ephesus in early morning light

Ephesus Tours

Half-day and full-day private tours of Ephesus with a licensed guide. Skip-the-line entry, transfer from your hotel, and the full archaeological brief without the cruise-coach crowds.

Two formats

Half-day or full-day, your call

The half-day tour starts at 08:00, walks down through Ephesus, and gets you back to the hotel for lunch. The full-day adds the Selcuk Archaeological Museum, lunch in Sirince, the Basilica of St John, and (optionally) the House of the Virgin Mary. Both run as private tours from your hotel.

What is included

A licensed guide is the difference

Every tour includes a Ministry-of-Tourism licensed guide. The licence requires regional and historical exam passes plus continuing professional development. The difference between a licensed guide and a self-styled one shows up around the Library of Celsus, where the layered history (Roman library, Byzantine plaza, Christian inscriptions) needs unpacking.

  • Ministry of Tourism licensed guide
  • Hotel-to-hotel transfer in air-conditioned car
  • Skip-the-line gate entry where available
  • Bottled water and a hat if you forgot one
  • Lunch reservation made on your behalf
  • Recommendations for dinner back at the hotel

FAQs

Common questions

When should we go?

May, June, September, or early October. Avoid July and August unless you start at 08:00 sharp.

Is it suitable for kids?

Yes for ages 8 and up if you start early and finish before lunch. The full-day version is too long for under-8s.

Wheelchair access?

The lower (north) gate offers a flatter route. Ask us for an adjusted itinerary.

Do you cover the Terrace Houses?

Yes, on request. A separate ticket applies (around EUR 12 per person).

Can you arrange this for a cruise day?

Yes. We pick you up at Kusadasi port and have you back well before sailing. Tell us your ship and dock time.
